01 — Why Hallandale Beach makes the drive
Hallandale Beach sits between two bigger tattoo markets — Miami to the south, Fort Lauderdale to the north — and plenty of neighbors assume they have to pick one. We're in the middle of it: 135 NE 1st Ave, one block north of Hallandale Beach Blvd, just east of Dixie Highway and about a mile west of Gulfstream Park. NE 1st Ave is one-way northbound, so turn in from the boulevard. From Golden Isles, Three Islands or the beach side, cross the Intracoastal on Hallandale Beach Blvd and you're here in five minutes; from the west end of the city it's the same boulevard the other way.
